Target Species

We target a mix of iconic species inshore, nearshore, and offshore.

Shark

We have several species of shark around Tampa Bay, including blacktip, spinner, and bull sharks. We target sharks with live bait like blue runners or bonito and heavy tackle. We're targeting sharks around reefs, wrecks, and deeper water channels.

Jack Crevalle

Jack Crevalle are a popular and hard-fighting sportfish, known for their explosive strikes and acrobatic fights. From spring through fall, these fish are plentiful in the waters around Tampa Bay. We use live bait like pilchards or blue runners, targeting areas with strong currents, such as around jetties, bridges, and offshore reefs.

Grouper

The Gulf has a variety of Grouper species, including gag grouper, black grouper, and red grouper. The best time to target these fish is during the spring and summer when the water is warm and fish are feeding. We target Grouper over reefs and wrecks with live bait and heavy tackle.

Snapper

The Gulf is home to a variety of snapper species like mangrove snapper, and vermilion snapper. Snapper fishing is typically best when the water temps are warm. We target them around artificial reefs, bridges, and other structure. Snapper are great eating and easy to catch.

Cobia

The peak season for Cobia around Tampa typically runs from April through June, although they can be found in the area year-round. We target Cobia near structure like buoys, bridges, or wrecks. Cobia put up a hard fight and are one of the best-eating fish you'll bring home with you.

Snook

Snook are iconic species due to their powerful fights, unique appearance, habitat diversity, and cultural significance. Their aggressive strikes, distinctive look, adaptability, and local importance make them a highly sought-after and unforgettable target for saltwater anglers.
